  SWSCP Crits No. 1 This event has unfortunatley been cancelled. We have had a large number of youth riders wanting to go and watch the British proffessional road race championships being held in Glasgow on the same day.

We have taken the decision to cancel this event as we understand that this is a rare opportunity to watch some of the worlds best riders competing on our doorstep prior to some of them riding the Tour de France.

We will do our best to reschedule this event. A different date will be chosen for the Scottish power youth series, of which details will appear on the Scottish Cycling website shortly. 

 

  Twenty five youths turned out for the MTB mini MTB XC at Dalbeatie Forest. After coach Stewart Henderson took the riders round the course, some top notch racing took place, Results HERE.

 Entries are now open for the remainder of the seasons SWSCP road events. There are still four circuit races, two time trials, six road races and a hill climb to come. Click HERE for the SWSCP calendar.

 The third SWSCP Grass Track meeting provided the region with a first for 2013, sunshine and warmth!. Nearly forty youngsters turned out out and treeted the spectators to some brilliant racing. Full Results HERE.

  SCOTTISH NATIONAL VETS ROAD RACE CHAMPIONSHIPS.        South West Scotland Cycling project will be hosting the 2013 Scottish National Veterans Road Race Championships. The event is to be held on Saturday 27th July at Clarebrand, Castle Douglas. There will be 40+ and 50+ titles up for grab on the day. Click HERE for full details and to enter.

 The SWSCP Mini Downhill Champs was run off in perfect conditions producing some brilliant rides. Full results and photos HERE.

 The Ayrshire Mountain Bike race Series has stepped up a notch for 2013. The series now has six rounds taking place at Newmilns and Craufordland estate. Full details HERE.

 Springholm primary school hosted the second SWSCP grass track meetings. Stewartry Wheelers were on hand to ensure smooth running. Results HERE.

 The First of the SWSCP Mini Downhills takes place this coming Thursday (25th Apr) at Mabie Forest. Deyals HERE.

 Snow once again failed to stop the riders competing in South West Scotland. Todays Lungbuster TT Result HERE.

 The SWSCP Road Race season got off to a impressive start with two cracking races. The morning 4th cat race took place in brilliant sunshine, despite most surrounding areas waking up to snow. The afternoon 2nd / 3rd cat race started in fine weather, but then got hit by severe snow and hail stone storms. Reults here - 4th Cat Race. 2nd & 3rd Cat Race.  Photos.

 This first MTB XC of the season took place on Saturday in wet freezing conditions. 41 youngsters turned out to battle the elements and each other. Results HERE.

 SWSCP Team Time Trial. The first event of the 2013 season had a brilliant turn out of 73 riders. Full result HERE.

 CONGRATULATIONS TO POLLY HENDERSON WHO WON THE SCOTTISH UNDER 12 GIRLS NATIONAL CYCLO CROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS AT STRATHCLYDE PARK ON SUNDAY.

 A big season ahead for MTB XC racing in the region. As well as the SWSCP race series events their is also two rounds of the national SXC series taking place. Details HERE.

 The SWSCP will be running a race organising workshop to help the many willing volunteers from the region feel more confident when helping out. Click HERE for details.

 As the 2013 season approaches, now is a good time to register your details with the online entry system used by SWSCP. It's a very simple system that requires a straight forward rider registration and uses a secure and safe payment system. Click HERE to go to the site.

Prize Presentation. The SWSCP Race series prize presentation will take place on Saturday 23rd February at the Annan community centre. There will be engraved medals for all youth riders that took part in the 2012 series. We will also be unvieling the 2013 race series including some new additions. There will also be a Team Go-Ride skills competition taking place in the morning at the venue. Click HERE for full details.

IMPORTANT NEWS - Unfortunatley the first of the four track sessions (3rdFeb) has had to be cancelled. We were informed last night and had it confirmed today that the velodrome will be closed on Sunday due to the Revolution track meeting.  An administration oversight meant that booking still got taken for this day.Sincere apologies. The remaining three sessions will go ahead as planned. 

 

 The first South West regional womens ride to place on Sunday (27th Jan). Despite the bad weather conditions, it was great to see a big attendance for the first ride. Details HERE.  D     etails           

 The 2013 season kicks off with the new addition of a 3up Team Time Trial on Saturday 2nd March. An excellent way to blow away the winter cobwebs and claim some early club hirearchy. Details of the event HERE.

 Calling All Budding Youth Track Riders! Youth regional track coaching sessions will be taking place shortly at the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. THESE SESSIONS ARE NOW FULLY BOOKED. TO GO ON THE RESERVE LIST, PLEASE EMAIL alan.denman@scottishcycling.org.uk

 Women Specific Road Coaching Sessions will be starting up in the region on Sunday 27th January. For more information click HERE.

 A track session at the SirChris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow is on offer for the many volunteers in the SW region that put in so much hard work to ensure the region runs smoothly. The session is open to all club volunteers who have given up their time during the year. It will be held on Sunday 30th December from 5 - 9pm. There is no charge for the session although you will have to pay for a hire bike if you require one, Places unfortunatley have to be restricted, so please email Alan Denman alan.denman@scottishcycling.org.uk

 The first of the winters SWSCP Cyclo Cross events took place in brilliant sunshine today with a great turnout and some excellent racing. Click HERE for report, results and photos.

 We will be holding two local Cyclo Cross events on 10th November and 15th  December. Full Details HERE.

 All SWSCP clubs are invited to a meeting on Monday 15th October, 7.30pm at the Stepping Stanes clubroom at Mabie Forest to discuss how people think the series went this year. Each club can send two representatives to speak on behalf of their club.

 We've compiled a full list of all the riders from our region who have competed in the SWSCP series. We've had an amazing year with one hundred and forty competitors taking part throughout the year giving us another massive year on year increse. Super talented youth rider Lewis Martin came out on top of the pile holding off Chris Stewart. Full table HERE.

 The SWSCP Hill Climb took place yesterday at Eccelfechan. John Patterson and Chris Stewart tied for the overall win, but were nearly upstaged by Youth rider Rian Hill. RESULTS. PHOTOS.

 Scottish Cycling is hosting a series of Regional Road Shows throughout Scotland, we would like as many cyclists and members as possible to join us and HAVE YOUR SAY. 

One of the main focuses of the Regional Road Shows will be Scottish Cycling's Strategic Business and Governance Review. Full details and dates and venues HERE.

  Chris Stewart won the SWSCP Time Trial Champs to add to last weeks Road Race title. Chris also beat the course record set last year by John Patterson by one and a half minutes. The regions youth riders also put in an excellent days riding taking a few senior riders scalps along the way. Full result HERE.

 The 2012 SWSCP race is reaching a cracking climax with the season long points series proving very close in many of the categories, latest update HERE.. This coming Saturday sees the SWSCP Time Trial Champs around the Glencaple circuit, details HERE and on the 29th September the series climaxes with the SWSCP Hill Climb Champs at Eccelfechan, details HERE.

 The Last SWSCP road race of the season took place today on a new Loch ken course which made for an exciting race over the climbs of Balmaclellan and Clarebrand. Chris Stewart from Classic Racing came out on top and also took the SWSCP road Race Champs. Provisional Result HERE.

 The last MTB XC race of the 2012 series took place on Saturday 1st September. Some exciting racing took place place in the wet conditions with many riders desperatley trying to grab some late season series points. RESULT HERE.

 The final SWSCP mini downhill took place on Thursday 23rd September. Classic Racings Adam Burgoyne lowered his course record in wet conditions during a night when most riders struggled with the conditions. Full Result HERE.

 WIGGO COMING TO DUMFRIES. Tour de France winner and Olympic gold medalist Bradley Wiggins is confirmed to ride the Tour of Britain. Details HERE.

 The last road race of the series takes place on Saturday 8th September. It's also the South West Road Race Champs. The race to be held on the Loch Ken course has had a slight change to the route, now making it a slightly hillier affair with a 1 mile climb to the new finish at Clarebrand.

A guaranteed 20 places will be saved for riders from South West clubs, but only if you enter in advance, so click here to see the new route and get entered.

 A tough road race was held today at Dalbeatie for Road Race No. 4 of the SWSCP series. After a near race long break of six riders, junior Tom Arnstein led home for a fine win. RESULT HERE.

 Mini Downhill No.2 carried on where the first one left off. With 23 of the regions youth racers back for more. Second time on the course saw many of the riders recording quicker times. Adam Burgoyne (Classic Racing) lowered the course record with a storming performance. RESULT HERE.

 Tonights Grass Track race has been cancelled again. The field is still waterlogged and the rain is falling. We will do all we can to re schedule, but please be aware that we are running out of time and potential dry days this year.

 The reschuduled SWSCP Crit No. 2 took place on Sunday with some excellent racing. With the youthracing being the latest round of the Scottish National Skinny Tires competition and riders from from Spain and the Netherlands taking part, the standard was super high. Results Here.

 22 riders took to the start gate for the first SWSCP mini downhill race. Stewart henderson designed a exciting and challenging course at mabie forest. Top series points again changed hands as the off road specialists got a chance to get one up on the roadies. Joint quickest overall were U14 Adam Burgoyne and U12 Polly Henderson. Full Result Here.

 The second Time Trial of the race series saw local TT specialist John Patterson take top spot and Classic Racing take the top three positions. Full Result. Photos. Classic racing also closed the gap on Annan Youth CC in the team rankings and Neil Pearson regained top spot in the seniors.

 The second SWSCP Time Trial takes place this Thursday evening (2nd August) on the Dalbeatie - Sandyhills course. This sees another chance for the more senior based clubs to close in on the mighty Annan Youth CC. The field is limited to 30 riders, so get entered now. Full details here.

 SWSCP Time Trial No. 1 Result.  Classic Racing and Stewartry Wheelers took the opportunity of youth E, D & C's not being able to ride this event to close the gap on Annan Youth CC. While a strong performance from Dumfries CC saw them move up the team table. See the series standing page for updated table.
